A RETRO-STYLE KITCHEN – A BREATH OF FRESH AIR
Since we’re on the subject of retro, it’s worth explaining what a retro-style kitchen actually is. It’s a style of kitchen design based on American kitchens from the 1970s and 1980s. Of course, the inspiration comes from the kitchens still seen in many American films, rather than the tacky, dilapidated kitchens that were common in communist-era Poland. The retro style draws heavily on the popular vintage style, which is characterised by raw, decorated wood, colour and a wealth of accessories that, rather than being tucked away in drawers or cupboards, are displayed out in the open.

RETRO STYLE – WHAT ABOUT KITCHEN FITTINGS?
The fittings themselves are just as important in this case. However, the manufacturers have taken care to discreetly conceal any features that might reveal the modernity of the available equipment. And that is exactly what has happened. First and foremost, retro-style kitchen fittings are either fully built-in or appropriately ‘disguised’. From the outside, it may look like something from the 1970s, whilst inside it conceals the latest technology and electronics.
The retro style is becoming increasingly popular. No wonder – people are slowly growing tired of modern, simple and even sterile-looking kitchens. Colour, a touch of apparent disorder and that which is so essential in kitchens – warmth, evoking memories of Mum’s or Grandma’s real, homely kitchen – are making a comeback.
